The ewes are melting

The ewes have reached that stage in pregnancy when they are wider than they are tall and they spend most of their time lying down while chewing their cud. They only bother to get up to eat and are otherwise flopped on the ground with their voluminous sides spreading about them like they are melting. The official expected due date for the first lambs is March 31st, but today is the earliest we would possibly see lambs given the variations in gestation length. Now begins the long wait...and limited sleep.
